This pretty much will be addressed with the next few updates, got this email from RSI:

"Greetings Citizen.

Today, we’re releasing an updated production schedule outlining our goals for
the 2.6.1 patch. The features in this patch will not only improve the
game’s performance and deliver some of the features that were originally
planned for 2.6 like the in-game leader boards, message ordering and
our new serialized variable system, but also address some of the balance
issues now that 2.6 has been in your hands for almost a month.

We are also planning on one more small incremental patch, 2.6.2 that
will include the MegaMap feature, which allows Players to seamlessly
connect to different multiplayer matches or jump into a single player
game mode without having to load a level every time. As well as
introduce multi region game servers. This was one of our stretch goals
and with the move to Amazon's AWS we are now able to move forward with
it which I know will make people in Europe and Australasia happy as
200ms+ pings aren't fun!"

Really cool to see this video came out before the announcement. CIG must be making decisions based on NOOBIFIER videos! You've really got a lot of pull!

I agree that it is about time that this should be addressed. Alpha 3.0 will be the game changer that will bring in so much more foundation to the game, gameplay and inevitably lots and lots of players. If 3.0 is going to be happening in Summer, I think they should be working towards opening up many more this year so that there will be better experiences for the players, and very importantly the new players.

I heard that Europe has a lot of backers, and if servers stayed in US even after 3.X patches there could be something wrong. I mean, CIG themselves put that stretch goal, if it wasn't going to be feasible in alpha state they wouldn't have put it in the first place... I live in New York City so i get around 20ms ping, but would be for the best interest of the players and the company to go back to this stretch goal and address it.

Wow Noobifier I never realised you had that much influence over RSI. Good work with patch 2.6.2.

I think one of the main things holding back multiple servers is the lack of the delta or incremental patching.

I think that now they're on lumberyard they feel like "hey we've already set the foundations for worldwide game hosting, lets get other features up to speed before we come back to it" but also its much easier to continually improve server software when the servers are geographically much closer to them. Also easier when they're all in the same rack, or just in the same building. I know it's in Austin TX, and I suspect it's probably actually inside their office building so they have physical access at any time.

I totally agree. The reason I haven't logged in for a while is lag. I'm not complaining but living in Australia its just a brick wall for me at the moment also preventing me from showcasing the game to friends. I have had numerous FPS fans ask me if its worth buying into star citizen now due to star marine and I honestly can't say they would enjoy it. Great video Noobifier I hope this all goes ahead soon :)

Seems to me they will need all of the features of "Enhanced Alpha" for 3.0 to work properly. Hopefully it will be done. Folks not in North America really need some servers.

Looking forward to 2.6.1/.2 as being in Australia its nearly unplayable with a 300ms ping....

i play from EU. Mostly pirate / vanduul swarm. playing online with 120-170 ping completely change the game.

Most of the time you can't directly aim at the pip or you will miss, some weapons are a nightmare to use. Like pyroburst, tested offline destroying everything. Can't hit shit online...

Would be very much appreciated, my 170+ ping is bad in SM but pretty much unplayable in AC, massively desynced all the time pretty much.
Might as well let people pick which server they'll play on themselves, let people pick a region in the settings.

Damn, you should make a video about how 3.0 should come out tomorrow :D (2.6.2 Europe and Australasia

I was hoping they would use one of the Tokyo servers--Australia is still better than Virgina, however, most of Asia will still be above 100 ping regardless..(124 vs. 190).. That 20 ping to Tokyo's looks so amazing though... Maybe someday? :'(

Pitty the fool living in South Africa. No Amazon servers (or Google before) here and there are no plans to have anything like that established here any time soon. The best ping we get here are to servers in Germany at 185ms on average. We'll keep on dreaming about what you get to experience in North America :)

Im not exactly sure how these things work. but isnt the easiest way to only make people join servers if there ping will be about the same as the other players?
