Today is the day this happened! Happy Cosmonautics Day 2018! On this day, 57 years ago, Yuri Gagarin became the first person to orbit Earth!

About the Vostok 1 - With R-7 Rocket:

The post-World War II era saw the advancement of rocket technology based on German research during the war. Several countries set out to design rockets as Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM) to deliver weapons of mass destruction. The Soviet Union deployed the R-7 series as their primary ICBM, but they later used the rocket for a different purpose: space travel. In 1961, the Vostok 1 capsule delivered by the R-7 rocket enabled Yuri Gagarin to be the first person to successfully orbit the Earth and return safely. Roughly 60 short years after Kitty Hawk and the first flight, human beings travelled into space. Anyone living during this time could have very well seen both the first airplanes and the first person in space.

We’ve got Yitzy & Lando discussing the brand new release – the Vostok 1, in this episode of Brickmania TV!

Official kit release date is Thursday, April 12, 2018.

literally just was on your website wondering when you were going to release a video on this.

LEGO just needs to embrace 3x3 cylinder diameters - would make builds like these so much easier.
We have 2x2 and 4x4 macaroni elements, with no size inbetween... Very frustrating.

Great looking build. :)

Actually his famous Orbit of Earth was History Making but after reentry he ejected from his capsule which he'll float safely back to Earth. So his orbit does not count. Under the requirements of international scientific community.
