Me: Did you ever hear of the tragedy of the Star Wars Expanded Universe?

New SW Fan: No.

Me: I thought not. It is an old canon that Disney would not tell you about. The Star Wars Expanded Universe was a compilation of novels, comic books, video games, roleplay, holiday specials, parodies, television movies and animated shows that started since 1978. Many would call it the Legends timeline. It had such vast knowledge of Star Wars that it kept the fandom in check.

New SW Fan: It kept the fandom in check?

Me: The Star Wars Expanded Universe had so many great stories and very well written characters, that the only thing many feared that it would be decanonized, in which eventually it was. Unfortunately, it taught it's apprentice, Disney, everything it knew. Then Disney decanonized it in April 25th, 2014. Ironic how the Clone Wars survived the purge, but not the Expanded Universe.

New SW Fan: Is it possible to learn about this universe.

Me: Not from Disney.

Star Wars is such a huge universe to follow it totally can get quiet intimidating to know where to start. I appreciate the short and concise breakdown!

1:52 Rebels should be in between Solo and Rogue One.

For the canon timeline why did you use the Old Republic logo rather than the High Republic logo?

Loved your video! It would be nice to have a video fitting all the new movies and series recently announced in a timeline in which it is clear where each one will take place :)

So for a total newbie no movies and no books experience where is the absolute best place to start reading? Is it year zero with the original IV New Hope and if so where to go from there? Backwards to Phantom Menace (movie 1)? Do you read all the movie novelizations to get the basic story then go back to Dawn of the Jedi “Into the void” and then to the old republic and move forward from the BBY chronologically? I would appreciate all and any help in my journey into The Star Wars Universe Legends and Canon…Thank You all in advance 😊

Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (22 BBY) Star Wars: Clone Wars (movie) (I think 21 BBY) Star Wars: The Clone Wars (TV series) ( 21-19 BBY) Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (19 BBY) Rogue-One: A Star Wars Story (beginning) (I think 14 BBY) Solo: A Star Wars Story (somewhere between 14 & 5 BBY, but I'm just guessing) Star Wars: Rebels (I think 5 BBY - 0) Rogue -One: A Star Wars Story (the rest of the movie) (0) Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (0) Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (3 ABY) Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (4 ABY) Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (34 ABY)Of course I think that's how it goes. The force is strong with this one.

I wish there was a way to combine both good aspects of each universe. I like EU a lot more but like with everything else, it wasn't perfect and it did have a few problems here and there, but many stories were solid. Canon Star Wars, while having quite a few problems, particularly the sequel trilogy, because that had no direction, and even the people who worked on it admitted that, still has some good stories in video games, comics ect.

So whats the difference between canon luke and legenda luke?

The Legends Timelime is the true canon. Disney fiction is its own thing. 2012 is when Star Wars was lost and the Skywalker Saga became the Palpatine Saga.

I think the Clone Wars TV show is kinda in a half-cannon to legends as it contradicts legends a bit. With the name change of the Sith Home world, the changes to how the Clones work, the changes to certain other more minor things. I think we can say round the end is when it starts to diverge more & more from the Legends cannon until the end when its got itself into a semi-cannon semi-legends place. I'd also put parts of rebels into legends as some parts can work to a point (mainly due to its ties to the clone wars). Same with the Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett & a few other things like games & such. I think Fallen Order could fit into legends as it doesn't conflict much only having the Inquisitors which I think are interesting enough to also fit into legends. I wish Disney just kept adding to the large Star Wars media giant. As they could've made so much with the pre-existing story & just made it better but they had to throw it all out for no reason.
