My First Recovery Week In Ironman Prep

On my road going from no experience to doing an Ironman, before I had a training program, and while I was in Tucson, I didn't prioritize recovery days or weeks. I would just go out hard every day and try to get as much volume as possible and toward the end of my trip, I could really tell me legs were starting to get tired.
Now with my new coach and training program, there are recovery weeks built in. I'm at my normal volume of 20+ hours a week for 3 weeks and then there is 1 week of recovery. I don't take the week completely off, it's just a light week in terms of my high-volume weeks.
This was my first recovery week in my training block but actually seemed like a bit of a tough week with the time trials as well. However, the volume was significantly lower than I'm used to and was nice to give my body some time to recover so I could come back well-rested for the bigger weeks.
