I worked on this film and he’s got it all correct. That top light in the field was this huge balloon light with a skirt on one side. The key light on the truck was a Skypanel rigged to hood lol. Luca had this thing where he wanted a nearly 360 degree view of set so it was a lot of shuffling crew back n forth to get shots. Overall super fun film to be apart of! They cut a CONSIDERABLE amount of footage, we did 60 locations in 40 days. Hopefully the 4 hour cut is released for us. 🤞

DYING at the cut from the girl screaming about her finger being bitten to you going "so... about the lighting" 🤣🤣

I think you should call this format cinematography & chill🤝 It's so relaxing to watch but informative at the same time

Wanted to compliment you on this channel, man. I'm an aspiring DP myself, and your recommendations and approach are attainable and well-explained. Cheers man. Looking forward to anything else you've got coming!

I'm surprised at how simple these lighting setups seem to be

The ease at which you talk and how you break things down really makes this channel stand out and your tutorials so much easier to process. Thank you

Love this breakdown. I saw this film recently and was talking with my partner about how naturalistic the lighting felt and how it felt like there was barely any additional lighting, just whatever was on location. I love being so wrong on this occasion, and to see all the underappreciated craft, work and planning that goes into getting such a natural look.

The Athena footage really looks great!

and at 4:02, it looks like they even put in visual effects on Chalamet's face to make the tube lighting look like a fire refracting and sparking in the reflection of his face.. really good subtle stuff

Lewis man... Hands down my favorite channel on YouTube. I'm a DP in my secondish year of working professionally. I'm at that point where I am starting to work with bigger crews and tighter schedules. Your channel has helped me immensely to grow. If you are ever out in LA one day, I'd love to grab coffee with you. Cheers!

Athena has one of the greatest, if not the greatest filmmaking I’ve seen in my life (the shots were planned to the littlest detail). Film give me chills, Romain Gavras should be proud.

there's a scene in chunking express that i always wondered about how its made where the caracter is in slow motion but everything else surrounding him is in a low shutter speed time lapse it would be interesting to see a video about it

Please do more! I love breakdowns of professionals, by professionals. There is no real content like this on youtube and it is tremendously helpful when you're not on enough sets to learn from the techs themselves.

Hey, great job man. really enjoyed this. "All quiet on western front" had a huge back stage too.
keep going.

Pls do more Breakdown Vidoes like this one. These videos give me a lot of inspiration to light my own scenes and how I can light them better

I worked as best electric on a movie earlier this year with a lot of the G&E guys who were on Bones and All. All great workers and awesome dudes. Have been looking forward to it coming out since hearing them talk about it.
