🚨BREAKING🚨49ers Are Placing RB Christian McCaffrey On Injured Reserve; OUT At Least 4 Weeks

BREAKING San Francisco 49ers news and we had an idea this was coming after Kyle Shanahan’s press conference yesterday: The 49ers are placing running back Christian McCaffrey on injured reserve to his calf and achilles issue.

Kyle Shanahan said yesterday after practice before the team departed to Minneapolis that Christian McCaffrey was out vs. Minnesota. He practiced on Thursday, but had his “worst” day. Shanahan added that McCaffrey was a candidate to go on IR and that is official now.

This is a short-term IR stint, meaning McCaffrey will miss at least the next four games

🏈Sunday: at Minnesota
🏈Sept. 22: at L.A. Rams
🏈Sept. 29: vs. New England
🏈Oct. 6: vs. Arizona

This is the right move for San Francisco:
This injury hasn’t gotten better
In fact, it’s gotten worse
There have been and bad days, then Thursday was a bad day
Calf injury last year, this year and now the achilles is involved
I know what you’re saying: Madden Curse, but I also talked on the show about my worries and concerns with the workload last year, duplicating success & statistics and not drafting him in fantasy.
Best case scenario: McCaffrey is fresh and healthy later in the year
49ers are talented enough to win without CMC

It is now the Jordan Mason show for the 49ers
We’ll continue to see Deebo Samuel out of the backfield, although I don’t love that. Isaac Guerendo as well.

Tendinitis SUCKS. I hope he recovers. The people in my family that got it never fully recovered from it, sure it would go away from time to time but it'd flare right back up again at a moments notice. Mine went away though and never came back, so I hope his is like this.

Had a feeling it was gonna happen. But hopefully he'll be healed up by then and he'll come back stronger than ever. We should sign another RB in free agency, though as a safeguard. Now I do have to buy a copy of Madden and get it blessed by a priest to ward off evil.

My guess…More than likely CMC could play at like 80-85%. And the 49ers were waiting to see what happened in game 1 to decide if they truly did have the luxury to put CMC on the IR. And with Mason looking that good, it made it easy to make that IR decision. The 49ers have Matt Breida on the practice squad who know the offense. Guerendo has the physical abilities to be a good back and will have time to develop now. And of course Deebo!
