Nova provides the management of instances of virtual machines addressing the hypervisor and giving such commands as it is launching and stopping.
OpenStack technologies are independent of the hypervisor.
Primarily, OpenStack development and testing are being made for Kernel-based Virtual Machines- KVMs.
