How NOT to use 1100kg/1,1Tons of Dynamite. Explosion gone wrong

For the narrow minded kids that dont understand why the cameraman put down the camera should grow some balls and go out to the real world and see how they would react when getting bombarded by rocks ;) this is first class reaction to an explotion gone wrong ;) watch the sky for incoming rocks DONt focus on the camera, it CAN get you killed :P

The cameraman held his ground longer than I would have! That's a rain of death. After many encounters with flying debris---I use a tripod and take cover. I've lost two cameras since to rocks-turned-bullets. One went through the viewfinder and out the back----a graphic lesson.

I grew up in a part of Wisconsin heavily settled by Norwegians, including my own grandparents. This video takes me back to 1988, when I was a young bartender, serving "øl" to Haakon, who spent his childhood in Norway during the World War I years.

He was an old bachelor who loved to fish, and he described how people in Norway would "toss a stick of dynamite into a fjord" so as to stun all the fish and just rake them in, afterward.

This clip supplied a nice visual to that memory.

Haakon also taught me a bunch of Norwegian cuss words, which revolved mainly around the devil and poop.

Probably should have put the camera on a tri-pod or a solid surface instead of trying to hold it steady. Lesson learned. I don't blame the cameraman for covering his noggin. I would have done the same.
