Metallica - The House Jack Built FULL Guitar Cover

Tuning ..... Debatable. (Std Eb & Drop Db)

So this one needed a well deserved redo like I've wanted to do for a long time now. There has been some progress in my findings and it was time to give this masterpiece of a song a make over...

Strap in for a bumpy ride. I've listened with all my ears, used all my musical techniques, implemented all the tunings possible and played all the various positions on the fretboard and this was my conclusion. Now I know that there will most definitely be a lot of comments about this but I am 99.9% sure that Kirk played the Main Riff in Drop Db tuning. Every time I tried playing this in the std Eb tuning I can hear that there are incorrect notes played. But when I tune to the drop tuning, it all sounds on point and perfect. I'll even go as far as to say that the chorus riff is possibly played in the same drop tuning as there is a different guitar sound to when it is played in std mode.

I might make a video explain all this in the future, but for now, this is what I did different to the previous version.

4: Real Bass
5: MUCH Better Mixing and Mastering
6: Fine Tuned The Nuances
7: Correct Main Lead

This one was a joy to remake and discover.

Beautiful Cover! Such an underrated track, one of my favorites of all. Love the atmosphere in this one. The wah, tremolo and the talk box solo. The weird vocals in the background in the song. That beautiful chorus. Very experimental for Metallica. Overall a great and heavy song!

Wtf is Metallica waiting for playing this masterpiece live? Load's been out for 27 years now and they never played it... Is it the Talkbox part that's hard to implement on a live set? Or just that they want to stick to their regular setlist of songs they already know by heart and just don't care about rehearsing for those songs they never or barely play?

I see you tuned the "2nd guitar" to drop D (or drop C#?) judging by the fingering, like you anticipated. You said it sounded like the most proper way to play the chorus. But I see you fretting only power chords and in that case wouldn't it be the same if you left the 2nd guitar in E♭ standard too and using the standard power chord shape?
Were there also notes with open strings involved that made the drop tuning the most practical choice?
