AIFF:
AIFF, or Audio Interchange File Format, is an audio format created by Apple.
It is uncompressed file format, so that makes its files large.
Hence, their download times are long and they take up a considerable amount of space.
AIFF is identical to CD-quality audio, and can be played on both Macs and PCs.
The audio data in most AIFF files is uncompressed pulse-code modulation (PCM).
AIFF was developed as an alternative to WAV, and although it’s not as popular, it has better metadata support. This means you can include album artwork, song titles and more.
Just like WAV, its Apple counterpart, AIFF files also preserve all information stored during the recording session. However, they can’t hold time codes which might pose a challenge when you’re editing.
