The Perfect Disguise: How Narcissistic Behaviors Hide Deep Shame

preview_player
Показать описание
When a person is carrying a heavy load of shame and self-loathing, their brain will do anything possible to protect them from it. Narcissism can be the product of the brain working overtime to deny their shame or overcompensate by building a mask of superiority. Eventually, shame becomes over-confidence, but that mask is fragile and if anything threatens them, they will lash out.

The devastation that is dealt to those of us who have had people like this in our lives and to think we have to have years in order to heal ourselves as our days in life feel and are taken away from us while the manipulation, lies and years of deceit takes place in us done by them is unconscionable and to me I consider criminal. Fraud

It took me MANY years of relentless seeking ways to heal from this. Finally around the age of 52 to have a breakthrough. Now, I’m 60 and I feel like I’m completely healed🙏🏼🤩 I look at life, my future, so differently now. I have inner peace.

mind altering substances can have a great masking effect, as well. Recovering alcoholic here. Every word he said is how I was raised. Literally cried for 3 months after getting clean--would have tears, literally and not even realize it. Lots of counseling.

Extremism of any kind isn't good. We shouldn't feel too much above or too much below others.

If a child feels like nothing with severe shame, but has no idea why. Does it mean there was trauma?

How does their brain find its way to this as a solution whereas most people in the same situation would start to have thoughts of ending their life?
Edit: Come to think of it, they probably do have thoughts of ending their life, but still, how does their brain find its way to this as an alternative solution?

Can narcissists heal? It looks that they can't. It's like an untreatable psychological disability. Does anybody speak about that?

How can we reach those in political power who have these ways to help them realize this is what they may be doing?
