These are the 2 largest drugstore chains out there. I doubt many of us can even name another one that's still in business. This video talks about how they came to dominate the industry, the different paths they took to do it, and finally some modern comparisons.

Fun fact about Walgreens that you left out: During prohibition they took advantage of a loophole that allowed you to get liquor by prescription, and that's when they saw major expansion.

In my experience, the CVS locations I’ve gone into are always dingy and dirty with poor customer service. Walgreens on the other hand has brighter, cleaner stores with better customer service.

I always prefer to shop at Walg- (looks for signs that tells me which store I'm in) ... CVS.

I know its kinda corny sounding, but I actually really really do appreciate you always remembering to say, "Thank you for watching" and asking what we have to say. I know you're invested in your base, no matter how big its grown since I started originally watching (643k subs, wow!) and I hope you know that and always keep that perspective no matter how big you get. Seeing a new video in my feed from you always brightens my day, and while I don't always leave a comment, I do hope the comments I make appear as genuine and as heartfelt as I intend!

Have a great day/night Company Man, you're the best. Can't wait to see you again!

I've worked at CVS for years now and I have to say that it's the single most poorly ran company in the country. Every store has no more than 2 employees at a time, hours are constantly slashed yet everyone is pushed to their limits to finish what needs to be done, and workers are treated like objects. We are supposed to close at midnight yet are forced to work shirt shifts and close early because of how many hours we have. Our union is fighting for us as we speak, as CVS is attempting to decrease our wages. Our WAGES. The only thing on their mind is money, and they'll ruin everything for us in order to save that much more. However, they don't give a SHIT about theft. For a company that cares so much about money, we're forced to try to prevent theft and deal with thieves ourselves, and not single day goes by without at least one person stealing something. I've witnessed 4 separate robberies of over a thousand dollars too. Plus, since it's only 2 people at a time at night things can get dangerously. I've had plenty of people threaten to hurt me and someone was even waiting for me outside until luckily a cop showed up before we closed. All this and CVS still doesn't care one bit about us, the only thing it'll take for them to wake up is something bad to happen. Oh, and the way COVID was handled was atrocious and should've been illegal, but I won't go into detail about that unless someone asks. People are starting to notice the though, and sales are starting to dip hard in our district. Instead of lowering the crazy high prices or giving us enough people or upgraded equipment that isn't from 2005, they introduced carepass.

CVS is a terrible company, I hope we go down under one day. I can't wait to leave.

Too bad both companies don't care for their employees anymore.

Hi, Company Man. Could you consider doing a video on Harbor Freight Tools? It's interesting how they have somewhat cornered the market in cheap tools.

I've been a pharmacist since the mid 70s. You glossed over another big difference. CVS started only selling health and beauty aids. They were run principally by non-pharmacists and only added Rx depts. later. Walgreens was more pharmacy focused and managed. Sadly, today, I don't see a dime's worth of difference between them.

I worked at Walgreens from 2001-2015 in several different store-level positions. Working for Walgreens as an assistant manager in the early 2000's was pretty good. Decent pay, benefits, 401k was really really good. The company also seemed to care for their employees to some degree. Circa 2010, things started to go downhill. By the time I left, it felt like I was working for a completely different company.

Hey company man, I think videos on media company's like NBCUniversal, Warner media or viacomCBS (especially with the merger) would be very interesting.

P.S. love the videos!

CVS stores always have this dirty gray carpet. I just have a preference for Walgreens. The stores feel cleaner and brighter.

I wish CVS and Walgreens still had the counter for ice cream and milkshakes.

CVS scares me. Every CVS I’ve been in felt run down, and they had CARPET floors which were extremely stained and dirty.
