In this video, I share why I'm buying Shopify stock before Q1 2022 earnings on May 5th. Shopify is the second largest ecommerce company in the US by gross merchandise volume, or GMV, and is only behind Amazon in market share! But over the past few months, Shopify stock has crashed over 60% despite the company posting 41% revenue growth in their latest quarterly earnings report & solid fundamentals. More recently, I found some data that could signal a buy into Shopify stock before their Q1 2022 earnings! So, is Shopify stock a buy in 2022? Should you buy Shopify stock now in 2022? Watch the video to find out!

The counter argument would be that SHOP is still expensive in the sense that it's price to free cash flow is over 200 (95 billion market cap divided by 450 million in fcf). However, I appreciate your enthusiasm. Good luck!

Nice fundamental analysis and I do agree with u. If u would attach some technicals to your analysis, you could save a lot of downside move. After all fundamentals show you which stocks to buy, technical shows u when. It is on my watchlist.

SHOP is down to 600 bucks CAD on April 21, 2022. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. But really, it is refreshing to see at least a bit of rationality returning to the markets...at least in some stocks that were overvalued...like SHOP. It is certainly a lot more reasonably priced now, IMO. Gonna be interesting to see where the bottom will ultimately be in this stock.

It’s down to about it’s pre-pandemic levels, I love the buy but personally think our chances of avoiding a recession are slim in the U.S. so I’m in year long in the money sqqq calls.

Engineering background comes in handy! Excellent analysis. I’m a big believer in Lutke and his vision, one of the most underrated tech CEOs IMO.

I just want to thank you Nick for this detailed analysis. The way you got into the numbers and means and probability is what big companies probably do, but you’re doing it for free for us. Never stop giving ❤️

The biggest problem with Shopify is that when you open a store, you have to get traffic. Which isn't easy. Etsy gets a huge amount of traffic for you without having to do anything. I read somewhere that 90 percent of Shopify stores have never had any traffic at all because the owners haven't done anything to generate views. It's a big problem in my opinion having owned both an Etsy store and Shopify store.

It’s definitely no secret where if you have more people on your site, you’ll have larger revenues. You want people on your site.

I’d say a possible reason behind the stock split is that corporate realized the share price was expensive. $2, 000 for one share is expensive no matter who the company is, so if the shares become a fraction of that price, it’s a major win. People want to own Shopify, but don’t want to have so much money tied to so few shares and that could be why the price slid so much. So if a company reports slower earnings, Investors will want to free up that cash for something else. Shopify is a really really solid e-commerce company and it’s only going to grow! Nice video Nick!
