Is Fishan the Father of the Elephant Herd?

With Father’s Day coming up this Sunday, we’re asking who you think is the father of the herd! Is it Fishan? He certainly has some incredible fatherly qualities in human terms, offering that male support to the little ones in the herd. He loves to be around the youngest elephants and spends time doing so, keeping an eye on them, keeping them company, both in the bush and in the paddock in the homestead that they share. He was castrated when he was younger due to an infection, before he was rescued from Zimbabwe and brought into our care so is not physically able to sire a calf but he certainly has the qualities, as he’s shown, to be there as a father figure. He also shows us that you don’t need to be the strongest one in a family to be in a position of responsibility. You only need to show up, be there for the others and offer yourself to their care and protection.

I have said many times that Fishan is the man. Going through what he did shows us what human fathers do. Strength, the will to keep going, love regardless, and work hard to keep the family unit together. He is a warrior and don't mess with him or his family. He will run you off big time.

Fishan is a great example of fatherhood, proving one doesn't have to be the biological father to show the true qualities of a father. He's gentle, loving, and supportive, always has time for the little ones, yet, despite not being physically strong, still shows his inner strength when challenged by the teenagers. He's also demonstrated how to gracefully accept the curve balls life chucks our way and still continue to embrace life ❤🐘❤
