A Cappella Harmony Quartet ("AHQ") started in the spring of 1995, the spontaneous result of four young guys with a desire to harmonize. They started singing occasionally in their small church (Brownsville Mennonite Church in Brownsville, Oregon--probably fewer than 150 in attendance on an average Sunday morning), and other invitations began trickling in. At that time, the two youngest members were only 12 years old. As they grew older and ventured farther from home in their personal pursuits, two of them ended up married and raising families far from Oregon--one in Ohio, and one in Indiana. The quartet disbanded as a result, but not completely until after they accepted an invitation to sing at the Inspirations' "Singing in the Smokies" in 2004. However, all four ended up back in Oregon for a week or two in June of 2015--twenty years since the group's inception. They practiced a bit, and found that the songs from years earlier still flowed easily--and they ended up singing several songs for a bursting-at-the-seams crowd at Brownsville Mennonite Church the evening of June 28, 2015. Group members are Tom Troyer (lead singer, oldest, and primary group organizer), Byran Smucker (tenor), David Krabill (baritone), and Konrad Krabill (bass). Incidentally Tom, David, and Konrad are all first cousins to each other.
