What is a resultant force? How can you work it out by drawing a diagram? Here's the answer.

First, I explain what free body force diagrams look like and how forces are represented. I then discuss what a resultant force is and why we need to work it our. Next we look at the simplest problem: forces that are in exactly opposite directions.

Finally, we look at how to use the parallelogram method to draw a scale diagram to find the resultant force, then work out the scale and finally use scale to calculate force.

This is suitable for AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC and CIE Physics GCSEs.
