Welcome to Zildjian Sound Lab Videos. In this installment we talk about and play the ZBT Rock Boxset (20" ZBT Rock Ride, 16" ZBT Rock Crash, and 14" ZBT Rock HiHats) with Paul Francis. He plays the cymbal and talks about applications and specs of these cymbals.

Here's a transcript of the video:

Paul Francis: Welcome to the Zildjian Sound Lab video. Today we're going to talk about our ZBT Rock cymbals. ZBT stands for "Zildjian Bronze Technology." These cymbals are made from a B-8 alloy, or what is known as 92% copper, 8% tin. And these cymbals, because of the alloy combination, are very bright and very cutting.

The ride cymbal is going to have very, very clear stick definition and a very clear cutting bell. You have a 16" Crash with a larger than normal bell that's going to be loud and cutting. And a very nice, solid, heavy set of hihats.

I have this set and has been used in many applications. I use this in our church and really very easy to play. overtones are sure insane but i love it especially when we play slow music. i love how it adapts to the different musical themes.

I remember that Zildjian discontinued the ZBT line! But, did Zildjian discontinued ZBT line before or during COVID-19?

Although i don’t own a set, a good friend of mine has them on his drum kit and i play them quite often. I actually like the hi hats and the 16” crash but the 20” ride is just awful. He also has the 18” crash which is not too good either. Way too many overtones. But if your a beginner, its a good buy to start off and get you going.

I can definitely agree with you. the entire ZBT line has way to many overtones.

I have bought this box set 5 years ago and absolutely love them I've giged with them a full year with no issues and have used them to record our studio demo! And they do sound this amazing both outside and inside the studio. Check it out on my bands soundcloud
