In the north we put the vapor barrier on top of the insulation to prevent the foam from coming up when concrete is poured on. Bricks and metal grid on top, rebar, and then pex

Is it ok to put welded mesh over on top of it?

Probably should have used EPS foam instead of XPS. This is because XPS soaks up and holds water. EPS does as well but holds less and the water can escape. XPS will not allow the water to escape. It may have a higher R value but I believe that is reduced when wet. EPS is also cheaper.

Alot of discussion here re moisture.. could we have built a dehumification system into the design by connecting a service room with a small dehumidifier to the floor? Putting vapor barrier down then strips of 1 inch pressure treated wood, thus raising the foam slighly and then more vapor barrier (sandwich), then pipes, then concrete?

My 30 x 40 shop I did myself is very similar.I live in MT.heat shop at 60 degree and my 3000 sq ft home and gas bill is $100 month and I have domestic hot water also.My shop has gas hot water tank as boiler, first one made it 17 years.Beena builder for 40+walls are foamed to

I have a question.... orange tubing is very warm correct? Cold foundation is very cold (especially near the perimeter). Warm touch cold makes water. Think of cold glass of water on the coffee table (water ring on the table) Does this not create a lot of water within the foundation? Condensation within the slab. To be a huge problem later?

I noticed some people use mesh, but you did not. I’m assuming the mesh is just to help keep the tube lines in formation and something to tie to instead of stapling straight to the foam? Love the channel! Thanks so much! We are just about to break ground on an industrial Steel building barn dominium project! 😊

How do you stop the foam from floating to the top when you pour the concrete. shouldnt the plastic sheeting go above the foam?

Won’t that styrofoam be a point of failure for the concrete? Compaction from walls and the garaged item, such as cars/truck?

for your next project check new line: SLAB MASTER FORM

I plan on taping my foam seams with zip tape for vapor barrier, install mesh on top of pex for slab strength

Is there any way to know if there might be a radon issue in the future before building a house and pouring a slab? Do you ever do a perimeter radon ventilation pipe before the pour? Has radon ever been an issue for you or your clients?

Do you have to compensate 4" (or so) to pour more concrete over the heating track?

Why do you put the vapor barrier underneath the foam? My foundation Contractor wants to put it on top….we are in Pacific Northwest

How do you prevent the polystyrene from floating in the concrete without perforating your vapor barrier?

My builder put a vaper barrier on the interior side of my walls right behind the drywall so now I have moister stuck in my walls along with a ton of carpetner ants ❤

No rebar? Poly under foam.. what if it rained the night before before the pour?

Does that polystyrene have a heat rating due to the heating elements highest temperature?

Who do I sue? Installer claims my concrete subfloor didn't need vapor barrier for our LVP. The floors are ruined and lifting everywhere.
