hot rocks kids art activity

It's a low heat for a few minutes. Just enough to get the crayons to melt on the rocks. These are not boiling hot rocks. I can actually touch the rocks enough to move them without getting burned. Between me and my 3 kids...we decorated over 30 rocks...and no burns--so this IS a kid's craft. You might not want to set your 4 year old up with this...but older kids who understand the concept of things being hot are definitely capable of doing it. We put our rocks back on the side of our house where it is always shaded....and we live in Idaho so it doesn't get that hot. BUT if you live in warmer areas you might not want to place them back in the hot sun because it will heat up with wax again. These are perfect for prayer rocks or to place in an indoor potted plant. I have not tried sealing them--but a couple people have said they work!

I tried this for the first time today. I used Crayola crayons and they barely melted 😢
The stones were definitely hot enough. Can you tell me what brand you used here?
