How to use the SP404sx / SP404a Import feature

Welcome back to SPVIDZ. In this video I take you through using the import feature to get samples from your computer on to your SP. I haven't used this before so it was an interesting learning experience for me and it actually seems a bit easier than using the Wave Converter just because that is really slow.

IF YOU GET "UNSUPPORTED" ERROR WITH WAV FILES - put that shit through audacity!! lower the sample rate (my native instrument sounds will not work unless I do this)... this was bugging me for a while since I have no audio interface and the "import" function is crucial for maintaining the integrity of samples! Game changer for me... anyways thx SP vids, cheers for all the help brother!

Nice. Additional tip - if you rename the files using certain rules, you can determine the import order. Saves having to do the exchanges. Have a look for "rules for importing" in the manual. Cheers!

Cheers for this! It's funny how all the docs I found elsewhere say to use the root of the SDcard, including the Roland manual itself?! Using IMPORT folder actually works.

glad to see you’re still answering questions on a video you dropped years ago. I just got my SP a few days ago and I’m trying to figure out why I can’t see all the sample chops. I loaded onto my SD folder. I made a folder called chops and I put it in the import folder. I put all my samples inside the chops folder, it’s over 2000 samples and chops but no more than 30 seconds long. The list doesn’t show completely all 2000 samples. It only shows a couple hundred and skips in between I’ve tried renaming the files numerically one to 2000 and I saw that it was removing numbers in between. I’ve tried redeeming the files to remove spaces and special characters shortening the name, converting them to 16 bit and nothing seems to work. I hope you can help.

really cool video, I learned a lot. I got a sp404 Sx in the flea Market Recently so, I'm learning. Thank u so much... I have a question; what if all of the files are .WAV in the import folder on my SD, and still getting the UnS message .... ?? any thoughs? Thank u for the info again !
