I’m with Tony from @spurrellcpa. Today’s topic is web based software for dentists.

Some dentists are not getting sufficient information from their practice management and accounting software. How do dentists get the best data to make decisions?

The capabilities of web based software are increasing. A dental practice running a combination of Curve Dental and QuickBooks Online have an advantage. The programs will run on any browser. You eliminate spending on network hardware and maintenance. You avoid time upgrading or working with outdated software. Most importantly, you can access data from anywhere. Your accountant can test the data against actual bank deposits and post complete revenue classifications. This facilitates decisions based on reliable net income from accounting software, rather than unreliable gross revenue from dental software.

The failure rate for small businesses in Canada are approximately:

By year 1 15% of businesses fail
By year 2 30% of businesses fail
By year 5 50% of businesses fail

Also the business owners that do stay in business often don't get paid fairly for their efforts and end up paying too much tax. We believe the reason for this is because businesses:

1. Don't have a plan
2. Don't know their numbers
3. Don't have anywhere to turn for comprehensive guidance

We believe these odds and these circumstances are unnecessary. Thus our mission is to help business owners:

1. Plan
2. Quantify
3. Analyze
4. Prosper

We believe the accountants job does not end with preparing annual financial statements and the required tax returns. The true measure of success for an accountant is to help the business owner succeed in business and minimize tax.
