Awesome topic thank you for this lesson. Makes huge sense now that you explained it and it is something that we all never thought about.

I use 464 and I always stir in my melter before I add anything and pour. I have always done this, usually to take an accurate temp. I just like to stir so everything in that melter is the same. I have never been told to do so and I have never read anywhere that it was good practice. It just made sense to me.

Holy crap, haven’t even thought about this! Thanks. I never had an issue with Joy Wax but I’ve noticed a little with the Coconut Apricot wax.

You got me with the question. I assumed stirring a bunch was involved so I threw that answer away immediately. Do some people not stir their melted wax before adding anything?! That's crazy to me! I've had issues with some waxes, particularly Joy wax making the resulting candle have a large crack in the wax. No issue fixing it, as Nature's Garden says to by adding a little vegetable shortening to the melted wax. Has solved the issue for this one batch of wax I've gotten that I'm slowly working through that constantly has this issue. As usual, great to know these little things that people don't always consider! Foresight for "Eh, I'm in a rush and don't have time to stir. It'll be fine." type situations. Thanks for the video and the info!

Omg this makes sense 🤦‍♀️ So, ive been getting into testing again. However, i bought my wax a year ago. LIFE happened, and i had to pause on candles. A year later now, i made more test candles almost exactly the same as my first batch a year ago. But they seemed off to me. This could be why 😔

This was my fear about bulk orders. I could not figure out how to melt/reblend everything and break it down for later, especially with only 1 "home" heater. I was thinking about melting as much as I can and then pouring it into blocks from aluminum foil meatloaf trays. This way the whole "bulk batch" would be consistent with reheating little blocks.
*edit Good to know the odds are in our favor for consistency on slabs/cases, but separation can still happen sitting in our storage.

Thank you for this video! This is my second batch ever of candles and I bought a large thing of GW 464. It's the same wax I used the first batch, but larger amount. This batch though looks hiribke and I cand see old separation in the finished candle. Now I know what to do!

Lord knows I’m happy I came across this video because I was getting ready to throw out my entire candle corner not knowing this could be happening 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮(I like the sweet tea analogy) I appreciate your selflessness

Wow this possibly explains what happened recently to me. I bought my first big bulk wax and maybe it had been sitting at the warehouse longer compared to the much smaller bags I started with, but my wax acted different this time. My process was the same, testing same etc. Wax same except it came in a box with four times the amount I used to buy. That was the only difference. I can’t melt 50 pounds of wax at once though. Not yet anyway.

Thank you for a very informative video. Have you consider doing a live Q&A?

Add 3 to 4 % beeswax to your soy or coconut wax

Can the same thing affect "pure" soy wax like 464? I know in theory it's suppose to be just wax but in one of Your videos You mention there are usually some additives in those anyway to stabilise the wax and so on. Do You think those additives can precipitate out? :) Also I have another question about thing I raraely see mentioned: total burn time of the candle. I want to know Your opinion on how it affects buying habits of customers. Is more always better and what is Your general opinion on the matter? Do You plan to achieve specific burn time or just accept whatever comes out from testing and other things are more important? Have a nice day!
