I used to wash the engine bay on my MGB when I lived in Michigan. At night the choke would freeze in the open position and I'd have to start it by having my girlfriend crank the motor while I stood over the engine bay with my freezing hands over the air intake. Owning an MG was a memorable experience.

Pull the plugs and clean them, spray a little light oil in the cylinders, vise grip the pug to ground and crank the engine to check for spark, make sure you have fuel to the carb, or fill the fuel bowl, (no need for all of that starting fluid.. bad for the cylinders/ pistons) Pull the choke !!! It'll start right up and run. This prep takes 10 minutes, very easy!
