The session includes songs and talks on subaltern music and its connection to community resilience. Next we talk to New York-based writer, educator, human rights, media and cultural activist, Dr Partha Banerjee on mental wellness in pandemic times. Mental wellness in trying times such as this especially in the poor, underprivileged, disempowered and immigrant communities is grossly overlooked, under-examined, and media-ignored. COVID-19 pandemic has not only destroyed the impoverished and vulnerable physically. It has greatly impacted them on an emotional and psychological front. We must explore the extent of the damage, and work to be on their side. We need a collaboration of civil rights, health, academic, activist and government professionals to alleviate their pain -- from a short-term and long-term perspective.
