My parents, who are in their 70s and 80s, respectively, hired a friend of a friend early this spring for a day to help with a large project in the garden. While working, he came up to my father with something he found. We couldn’t believe it—he had found my mother’s diamond tennis bracelet, a gift from my father on their 10th wedding anniversary. My mother doesn’t wear much jewelry and was heartbroken when she lost it many years ago. This year was their 51st wedding anniversary, and they couldn’t believe he found it after all these years! They didn’t even recognize it at first when he showed it to them. They had to clean it twice before realizing what it was! Back then, she must have been walking in the garden when the clasp broke. What’s so ironic is that the man who found it mentioned this isn’t the first time he’s found something for someone. He has previously found a ring and another piece of jewelry for a family member.

I used to ignore finances. It did not end well. Now I hit it head on and things are getting better.

I got a Vera Bradley purse at a garage sale this spring for TWENTY FIVE CENTS. AND THEN a few months later, I got it down from the top of the closet to use and I noticed that something was in it. I found an UNUSED Target gift card for 10.00!

I was downsizing to live in an RV full-time and was doing some deep cleaning. I found out I had 54 crochet hooks of varying sizes. 10 of those were in the couch.😅

We've been redoing our kitchen ourselves, so the stove (curently not hooked up) and the fridge are being stored in our detached garage.
Our church has been very generous and letting me use their kitchen facilities for as long as I need to.
Yesterday I decided to find ingredients I already had to prepare some meals and only use our microwave.
I did it!
I made 3 large meals that we can eat on for several days.

Hiya Larry and Hope, I found a small gold ring in an old bag I bought from a charity shop for £1. I sold the ring on ebay for £75. It paid for Christmas dinner that year!!!!

Thank you, Hope and Larry! You have really changed the way I see money. As soon as I made a list of prioritized goals, I had so much more motivation to pay down debt, cut expenses, and work towards those goals. I cannot thank you enough! ❤

Larry & Hope, I found your site on Prepper Princess site. On a whim I set a goal to save 1 K a month within a year. After I did it I thought I was crazy. So after 11 months I achieved it. 🎉
Now I’m stocking up on essentials this month. Starting in October I’m setting a new challenge for myself. I look at it as a treasure hunt. I always love a bargain. Thank you for all the tips.
Happy Birthday Hope🎂and a belated Happy Retirement to Larry!
Blessing to you both. Trudi

Mom bought a purse at Goodwill. She was getting it ready to use & felt something in the lining. Long story short, found a custom made 14K gold nugget medallion with 4 nice size diamonds mounted in it on a nice 10K chain. Not bad for a $2.00 purse.

Hello Hope&Larry, we look at our budget every month, we get paid once a month, and we have 3 ear marked sinking funds. I have a fit bit that was gifted to me from my daughter in law at christmas, we eat simple meals cooked at home from scratching recipes out of a cookbook that contains the ingredients that we purchase most often. Carrots appear many times in our meals. They help bulk up our meals and they are so full of beta carotine, vitamin A among other vitamins.

My daughter who spends foolishly bought a Dooney and Bourke purse years ago by about 15 years ago for $500 and she is notorious for using them for a little while and then giving them away not told her when she got it. I said I love that purse when you get tired of it give it to me. I’ve had it for 10 years, but it’s a beautiful purse and it looks brand new

Being debt free is really liberating. It has allowed me to save a lot more and move across the country. I am constantly adjusting my budget to account for different prices and changing goals in my life.

The coolest thing I have found (although not in a thrifted item) was a Lionel Richie CD that had been left in the CD player of a rental car we picked up for a vacation a few years ago. We checked with the agency to see if anyone was missing it, but they said to just keep it. We listened to (and yes, sang along with) the entire CD twice on our trip, and it was fun! We still enjoy it.
