How Radiohead use Modes

Exploring how modes appears in Lucky, Lotus Flower, Airbag, 15 Step, Everything In It's Right Place and Burn the Witch.

I'm not necessarily saying that Radiohead have consciously used modes however there are some brilliant examples of modality in their music which I'm going to analyse. Thank you to everyone who commented on my Beatles video who wanted to see more videos about modes.

I remember showing the sheet music for “Pyramid Song” and “Everything in Its Right Place” to my piano teacher, who didn’t approve of anything. As she played them she said, “Wow, these are beautiful chord progressions!” and remarked on the same modes that are in this video. Thanks for bringing it all back!

2. You shouldn’t offer a kid a toy and then not deliver.

3. Radiohead has been kicking ass for 32 years. You must figure that there’s enough of a fan base to warrant such a series, if not an entire channel.

Not a mode per se, but on The Bends, “Just” uses an octotonic scale in the guitar hook. Great video by the way!
