Much better video than the one I saw from someone else, like when people get to the point!

Thank you so much for uploading this video. It tells me everything I need to know about installing LAMP in one neat video. I have set up my Raspberry Pi 2 as my MySQL and PHP development server.

Thank you so much for making your tutorials clear, concise and very easy to follow. Now I am off to watch your PHPMyAdmin tutorial.

As the video says, "it's not necessary, but it's a good idea after installing a number of things." Keep in mind, these instructions cover a general upgrade/update step which often installs a new kernel version. It also confirms the init scripts to start mysql and apache are properly configured. So it is not necessary but recommended.

SmasherPT, your privacy settings don't allow me to make a direct reply. You can run the PI in GUI mode with the web server running, although it will slow down the web server.

Would a Pi be able to handle a small website with 5-10 queries per page, and a few simultaneous users at a time?

Hello Bruce,

Thank you very much for your explanation.
I have  a problem while installing mysql-server, near the end of the installation it shuts down mysql ok, but then it cannot start mysql (start failed).
I've tried a lot of "solution" I found in the internet, but neither of them solve the problem.
I'm using the last image of raspbian.
Maybe you could help me. Thank you in advance.

It probably depends on what you mean by "a few" and what kind of pages are being served. It can certainly handle a limited amount of traffic and static web pages or light php scripts, but if you are doing more intensive processing or database accesses, it could be overwhelmed even with a few users. You'd have to do some load testing.

Im constantly getting this issue can anyone help ?

Package php5-mysql is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'php5-mysql' has no installation candidate

Very good. One issue. On Raspbian the phpinfo.php file needs to be in var/www/html and not var/www
