I'm pretty amazed with the sound quality of this unit. For $400, I'd say it's good, I paid $200 and for that it's a steal. The menu is fast, it never slows down, just works. The display is alot better than I expected, even looks clean in bright sunlight. It definitely has enough power if you prefer to run some fronts off the stereo itself. I'm just running 2 fosgate components off the Sony and subs off a 1000w alpine amp and the Sony can crank loud and keep up with 2 10 inch RF punch subs. As far as the wireless android auto, that's no issue for me. I use android auto plugged into my android device and that works beautifully, and I prefer wired for Sq, but when I unplug the deck switches to BT and continues to play. I'd prefer the Android auto run on my phone or tablet anyway so it's a non issue for me. The only real downside is the preouts are 2v instead of 4v and 4v would produce better SQ, but I haven't listened to a higher end unit side by side yet and the bass from this little Sony is loud and clear.

Double din mated to a single din unit lost a sale for Sony I was considering this radio, but the double din space I have has a lot of room and making that thing stable will be a pain in the ass so glad I saw this looking for a good double din that is not mated to a single unit body.

My biggest gripe with this unit is the backup camera section. It does not trigger the screen when you put it in reverse. You have to hit the home button and rear camera button to show the backup camera.

I have the Sony XAV-AX100 (discontinued). This is the same stereo head unit. No new features and Sony has in the past not been very forthcoming with firmware updates, leaving many users with a $400 brick. The official Sony forums are full of customer complaints regarding the older models. I see no reason why this one would be any differemt. Great review but I won't be purchasing Sony again. Their quality just isn't what it used to be.
