Just got to see this review, Dom, and you sold me. After hearing many of your podcasts (and reminiscing my days on the PA trout streams), I trust the Troutbitten perspective to get started. Keep doing these videos and podcasts. They are a big help not only in tactics, but for me to lose myself in a trout stream. (Not too many here in So Cal :(.) Thanks for all you do!

Great rack. I install rod tubes and add or remove fully strung rods from the tubes. First on the water sometimes means first fish. I never understood restringing rod every time.

Agreed. Just finishing a third season with the Smith Creek rod rack in my 4Runner and it has been a very good system. Because I use a boat, I take four 9 foot fully rigged fly rods in and out every day. (120+ days/year). Recently, some of the shock cords no longer tighten completely in the grommet. The manufacturer is developing a repair kit to allow you to repair or replace any failed cords. For all the reasons that Domenick mentioned, this is the right rack for me.

@troutbitten first off your videos have been awesome I’m through 3-4 of them now. I came to the “gear” videos hoping you did a “how I arrange my vest” type video. I saw you stored leaders on 3” spools with hair ties and it makes me wonder what other tricks you have. In the same way golf guys do a “what’s in the bag” sort of thing. So there’s my official request 😂 plus you can talk about the different elements of gear and why you like different pieces as you go.

Use to do the same as a kid Dom. That then stick in backpack and zip up both sides so the rods in the middle. Nice flashback.

Dom thank you for the video. I just purchased a 4Runner and I’m having difficulty finding the correct size/thread Eye Bolt to replace the current 10mm bolt that holds the rear coat rack hook. Do you happen to remember what size/diameter/thread type eye bolt you used for your 4Runner? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Tight Lines!!!

Nice system but if you don't have the cash for the Smith product, just install a car clothing bar between the 2nd row assist handles and in back use a bungee, doubled and twisted to create the number or rod butt "pockets" you want. Probably under $25 bucks. Been doing this for year with fly, spin and baitcast rods. Never had one come loose.

The suction cups don’t work on a 4runner. I just tried it as I just bought this system because it holds 7 rods and inexpensive. I do like how you mounted them in the back though. Thank you for the idea

Any chance this would work with a compact SUV? Say a Subaru Forester?
