The BUBBLINE Timeline: An ADVENTURE TIME Character Study

Following the release of the second Adventure Time: Distant Lands special Obsidian, I followed up my last character study with one trying to parse through the development of Marceline and Princess Bubblegum's relationship. It's a bit late a more loose but I think it's a decent list. Check out Obsidian (and BMO) on HBO Max.

I think what I love most about the relationship between Bubblegum and Marceline is how nuanced it is. Neither party is completely in the wrong, they both just sorta drifted away from each other. It’s very sad but also very realistic.

This was a good restrospective.

Though, I think there was a missed opportunity with analyzing their interactions and the song that Marceline sang during Elements. Also not going into their dynamic during the ending special, how it shows how far they've come with supporting each other and how it really sets the stage for what their relationship may look like in Obsidian.

I do like that you mentioned the mother gum helping Simon and Baby Marcy and linking how their relation to each other overall started much earlier before either of them were aware of, though. I noticed that myself and how it seems it isn't really pointed out much.

Idk why but in the Adventure time series, (when there was times where pepper mint butler was acting weird and mysterious) I wondered stuff about that too. sometimes he would use dark magic and stuff. yes I still like the bubbline ship. There was definitely a lot of bubbline moments in there. I'm still really interested about the last two specials that will be coming soon. also I think the one after the pep- but special, will be called "Together again". I'm excited for that too! enjoy Obsidian tho!

really dig the content! i have a suggestion: make the background music a bit quieter so it doesn't drown out your words!! other than that, awesome, insightful video!
