Stop saying 'modernize' like it's supposed to be a compliment. People these days suck and writing standards have fallen off a cliff harder than this movie's projected profits. Something being 'modern' means it's crammed with nonsense politics and writers airing their mediocre insecurities like we're supposed to care. Don't say BS screen rant. The reason people didn't go watch the movie isn't because of being tired of remakes, it's because of disrespect towards the source material and the actress Zegler. If it was a faithful remake (which we have never gotten) with good actresses that fit the role and directors that respect the source then i personally and many people i know would have gone to watch it
