Here on Vancouver Island my collection of Harley Benton guitars is growing and, like Jon, the Aeolus has made an impression. The Tesla pu's are damned good, versatile and clear. The instrument has a unique feeling especially with the quasi hybrid nature of the semi with the push pull coil split, SS frets and neck joint. Classy. Used it on stage a few times because my contrarian nature loves poking at traditionalists.

Because of this review I bought this guitar. Here's my 10 cents:

The good:
The fret ends are very good. Real stainless steel. It is not polished well so you hear nasty scratch sounds when bending. But after a week of playing it gets better and better.
The tuners feel good. It doesn't feel cheap. It holds Tune
Tuneomatic bridge and tail piece are good quality.
The pickups are very hot, it wants to always overdrive. The pickup tones are dark . Darker than my Epiphone les paul, which is what I was looking for.
The setup is almost good out of factory.
The potentiometers feel good and works.
The split coil feature works well. The single coil sound sounds darker than a tele.
The overall build quality is quite good. The body finish is very good.

The bad:
The neck profile is quite chunky for my small hand. Almost feels like an acoustic guitar. Playability is still good though.
There are several quality control issues. The toggle switch and the 1/4-inch jack are very cheap.
Out of the box, there are a lot of white powdery thing like a plaster of paris. I think those are buffing compounds. I had the scrape them off especially from the sides of the F holes.
The neck finish is more like unfinished. Just finly sanded wood. It's look very dry including the back of the headstock. But it gets better after a while when the oil from your skin gets to the wood.
The nut is a little too high. I had to make the slots deeper.
It's quite heavy and is back heavy. The headstock always wants to go up. You always want to hold the neck when sitting down.
Last and the worst one is the truss rod soke wheel was not properly installed. It was pushing against the neck pickup rings and the pickup rings are warped. I had to re-seat the pick up ring so that it is sitting on top of the spoke wheel instead. I took some material our of the pickup rings so that it can seat properly.

Overall it's a decent enough guitar with quality issues. Most of them can be fixed though. It's a good guitar if you know how to fix the issues.
So if you don't want to do the fixing, this is not for you.

Really nice Jon, the price is unbelievable, Harley Benton is really pushing the envelope in this market, with their brand in this very competitive market, one thing that Thoman mentions is the access to the electronics which they have cleverly have a back plate to make that access easier ingenious idea that guitar techs will love, the pickups sound great, cheers Brian,

The music on Demo chapter at 4'44 is really cool, I tried to play it on my HB35 plus, thanks for your video, I'm not sure the sound is better than the HB 35, but the look is absolutly Gorgeous, specially the Aeolus Frost Flame.

Another great HB review as usual! Congrats on 30K subs! Hope you get to 50K by Christmas. The pro line here seems to really punching above its weight as they say. First I've ever heard of Tesla pickups. They sound great. They'd almost have to be exceptionally good sounding to bear such a name I think. Seems like a great bargain to me.

I bought one of them as soon as they came out. great sound, great neck. Few issues though - the screws for the control backplate poke through into the cavity which is not great. tone knob needs replacing already as very loose. But yes, it does sound really good. Love the teslas on this.
