Technical Deep Dive into Service Mesh Networking (Cloud Next '19)

In the first half of the session, we walk you through the technical details of Envoy proxy and the xDS procotol, both of which underpin Service Meshes like Istio. We then provide an overview of Traffic Director, Google Cloud's new control plane for these Service Meshes. In the second half of the session, we explore modernizing telco edge and services for agility, at-scale delivery, and a hybrid-/multi-cloud world by extending the concept of "Service Mesh" to Telcos. Open Networking Foundation and Google demonstrate a proof-of-concept hybrid telco service mesh.
