Family Service Society - Day 4

We wanted to share a story with you today from the Family Service Society . Sarah’s story is not much different from many in our community right now. Please read and consider the others in our community that NEED YOUR HELP!
“Meet *Sarah*--Sarah is a single mother of four who was furloughed in March due to COVID-19. Sarah is one of many who has been unable to access unemployment benefits, even though she is eligible. Sarah just got a call last week to come back to work but will not get a paycheck for at least two more weeks. That means Sarah went without a paycheck for FIVE MONTHS. Thankfully, she had a little bit of money set aside for an emergency, and therefore has been able to pay all her bills up until this month.
After exploring all other options, Sarah was put in contact with our staff at Family Service Society. Sarah did not know how to “apply for assistance” because she had never turned to a non-profit for help before. When our staff member told her we would be happy to help, Sarah broke down and started crying--all of the worry she had withheld over the last five months came flooding out as she began trying to convey her gratitude.
So many in our community are hurting and struggling to get by just one more day. That is why Family Service Society was formed over 90 years ago, and that is why we continue to operate here today.
