The voting rights bill faltering in the Senate due to the threat of the filibuster, and Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema's vocal unwillingness to vote to abolish it, are analyzed by historian Nancy Maclean. Maclean tells Joy Reid that Joe Manchin is 'living in a dream world that no longer exists,' as he pursues bipartisanship.

When someone shows you who they are, believe them.

The best way to protect the democracy is to have term limits for senators and also reduce the year per term from six to five. A four term in office is enough for me.

The Dems seem to be asleep at the wheel on this one.

Joe M is not living in the past. He does not need guidance. He is living and voting for his donors.

Obama's presidency should have taught the Democrat something.

Just your daily reminder. That party that you're supporting used to run around in pointy white hats and white robes. And to this day they're still trying to keep you on the plantation.

Bipartisanship and McConnell doesn't go hand in hand and Manchin is too Naive to understand that.

Manchin has filled his treasure chest. Perhaps he should gracefully move on.

What Manchin doesnt like about the bill is it curtails and exposes dark money.

Also look at why you are having to have this conversation again. Look to the Supreme judiciary who gutted the Voting Rights Act allowing the Republican states to pass these bills with impunity.

Manchin and Bimbo understand what's happening. They're down with it.

Love these folks who want anyone to be able to vote just cause they say they are able to do so. But we can't get food stamps without ID. Manchin has a point. He's his own man and history will prove him right.

Manchin should be kicked out of the Democratic party. He's misrepresenting his affiliations.

He's not living in a dream world. He's knowingly and willingly aiding the obstructionists.

"Meanwhile, McConnell and the rest of the Republican Party laugh all the way to the ballot box. That's what makes Manchin so infuriating. In his mind, he's the hero of this story. In truth, he's the patsy. And the country pays the price for his delusions."
- Washington Post opinion writer James Downie

This video needs more likes. There aren't many who express as much alarm as Joy Reid, and the words that Nancy Maclean need to be echoed around the country; and the message, to the world.
