I have tested the commonly used Michelin Latitude Sport 3 vs the cheap Chinese Winrun R330 tires. It turns out that overall, the Chinese tires are better.

I put these on my Range Rover. All four cost same price as 1 Pirelli Scorpion!! Work great and just as noisy/quiet!!

Kingrun Phantom K3000 is definitely one of the best performing ultra sports tires I have ever experienced.. Very good quality/price. I recomend with all confidence!! Awesome tyres 😍

I’ve been using Sailun Atrezzo ZSR’s on my BMW 535d for over 2 years now and believe they peform as well or even better than the Continentals that came on the car for a fraction of the cost. Chinese tyres were a big gamble many years ago but I now believe they are as good as many of the big brand items. I have no testing proof for this, just my opinion and observation. Wet stopping distance was my biggest surprise. They are so good 👍. Will be fitting them to an EV when I get one.

Good data, only thing missing is performance on wet road - breaking and handling curves? If similar, the Winrun is a win.

I bought a volvo S80 2.5t that comes with goodride / Westlake tyres. This was the first time I use china tyres. They measure up to my expectations in comfort, durability as I am only an occasionally aggressive driver.
Lately one tyre gave way because of 2 yrs of none use because of covid while I was driving long distance..
The tyre shop recommended another china tyre blackhawk tyre from Sailun China. This tyre even performed better .
I am satisfied with china tyre quality. They don't break your bank🙂

I am using all Chinese tyres on my fleet...being the biggest fleet is my Toyota Vellfire....the Chinese tyre brand is COMPASAL to be exact...so far so good, quiet and proven grip on wet and dry, but I didn't push hard on this tyre...a casual daily drive..the faster I go on the highway is160KM/h and sometime 180KM/h, but not long...already completed 2 cycles of tyre set changing with the same brand. Good budget tyre that doesn't tear off your pocket...😅...love from Malaysia...🇲🇾

Tyres with long longevity are made from harder compound rubber.Tyres that wear quicker use softer compound rubber. You'll find that softer compound tyres like the Michelins will leave the winruns in its wake for wet weather handling, breaking and swerving tests.

i had / have the same experience - my brand is also chinese "landsail" they make low noise, are good for 80.000 km, good efficiency in rain and braking - and the best: less than 300.- euro for a complete set of tires
i use this kind of tire with my 2 teslas and more than 100.000 km and i am very satisfied with them

The Michelin wears faster because it is produced of a softer material. The softer material gives better grip. The accelleration is a bad way to test how good grip you have. Better to just floor the brakes and see stop distance.

My personal tire test (as a German car engineer living in the US).

I recently got a Model X 75D with 20" standard wheels and (against all warnings for consumption and noise / comfort!) got a second set with 22" turbine wheels (they ones you threw OFF, Bjorn... ;-). I got those 22 rims used, went to the tire store and did NOT get the factory PIRELLI's but instead CONTINENTAL (specifically: Extreme Contact DWS 06).

Result:
- The difference in noise is minimal.
- The difference in consumption is minimal (non scientific testing at 75mph: 330 Wh/mile with 20's, 350 Wh/mile with 22's)

Very positively surprised and guess what - I am keeping the 22's. At least for now...

Side note: in the US, the 20" factory slipstream wheels are also equipped with Conti's, not Pirellis as on the 22's which I think must be, in Bjorn-terms, CRAP! :-)

Thanks for your very helpful videos!

Budget tyres will last longer and get better MPG, because they’re hard and therefore don’t grip as well!

Chinese tires can vary wildly (much like American tires). Some Chinese tires can be really awesome, but I have seen some Chinese tires that lacked basic safety features such as bead wedges, which is an industry standard in American made tires.

Great informative video. Didn't know about that option. Definitely I'll consider them when my tires need an upgrade.

I think the most important thing is not the brand, but the usual checking of the status of the tires. Many people just don't care about tire pressure or tires being worn down.

Real world review fantastic video...nothing wrong with Chinese tyres they’re good value for money not as grippy as a top brand name but not as bad as people like to have you believe.

I got my new car last friday, and today I pulled a nail out of it. It wasn't punctured, but it scared me enough to start cehcking around on prices already. Turns out the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S that the car came with, costs 5000 NOK (500 USD ish) a piece. Nice to know there is way cheaper alternative, which isn't downright crap just because its cheap. Thank you very much for useful advice :)

Only a few aspects in comparison is not an overall overview. How about the handling in all road conditions? Brake performance in all road conditions? Acceleration performance in all road conditions?

Driving my Audi s3 in Sailun produced Blackhawk HU02 tyres. So far so good, runs smooth on a stormy weather, haven't tried on a dry road yet, but pretty quiet too.

in the next test could you test the braking distance? could also be a good indicator. Good job
