🎤 Lyrics: Of Monsters And Men - Little Talks

[Refrain: Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir, Ragnar Þórhallsson]
Hey! Hey! Hey!

[Verse 1: Nanna, Ragnar & Both]
I don't like walking around this old and empty house
So hold my hand, I'll walk with you my dear
The stairs creak as you sleep; it's keeping me awake
It's the house telling you to close your eyes
Some days I can't even dress myself
It's killing me to see you this way
'Cause though the truth may vary, this ship will carry our
Bodies safe to shore

[Refrain: Nanna, Ragnar]
Hey!
Hey!
Hey!

[Verse 2: Nanna, Ragnar & Both]
There's an old voice in my head that's holding me back
Well, tell her that I miss our little talks
Soon it will be over and buried with our past
We used to play outside when we were young, and full of life and full of love
Some days, I don't know if I am wrong or right
Your mind is playing tricks on you, my dear
'Cause though the truth may vary, this ship will carry our
Bodies safe to shore

[Chorus: Nanna, Ragnar]
Hey! Don't listen to a word I say
Hey! The screams all sound the same
Hey! Though the truth may vary, this ship will carry our
Bodies safe to shore

[Refrain: Nanna, Ragnar]
Hey!
Hey!
Hey!

[Bridge: Nanna, Ragnar]
You're gone, gone, gone away; I watched you disappear
All that's left is a ghost of you
Now we're torn, torn, torn apart; there's nothing we can do
Just let me go, we'll meet again soon
Now wait, wait, wait for me; please hang around
I'll see you when I fall asleep

[Chorus: Nanna, Ragnar]
Hey! Don't listen to a word I say
Hey! The screams all sound the same
Hey! Though the truth may vary, this ship will carry our
Bodies safe to shore

[Chorus: Nanna, Ragnar]
Hey! Don't listen to a word I say
Hey! The screams all sound the same
Hey! Though the truth may vary, this ship will carry our
Bodies safe to shore

[Outro: Nanna, Ragnar]
Though the truth may vary, this ship will carry our
Bodies safe to shore

Dude, listening to this song while driving by the lakes and mountains during a sunny morning day on a roadtrip is just the best. Man, the nostalgia

“You’re gone, gone, gone away, I watched you disappear” hit different now that my great grandma is gone and I had to watch her leave this cruel world

Look what you did. You just caused a massive wave of nostalgia to hit me. Back in middle school, I sang this with a partner as a duet in a talent show. Despite doing our best, we came out in fourth. Good times though!

This song is about a woman grieving over her dead husband. Notice how the woman’s voice in the beginning sound kind of scared, and the man’s voice is calming.
(Thanks for the likes btw)

“Just let me go, we’ll meet again soon” these were the words my best friend said right before i was about to leave his home in Ukraine 2 years ago. He died about a month ago, due to the war. as a Russian citizen, it’s very hard knowing that my own country did this. Rest In Peace, best friend. I’ll see you when i fall asleep ❤️

Edit 1: Thank you guys so much for all the likes and nice comments 💗 i hope you all are doing well in these hard times. stay safe, i love you all ❤️❤️❤️

Reminds me of a time when school didn’t have a stranglehold on our lives, we had no worries and we could life blissfully.

I love the meaning of this song. The way I interpret it is a lady lost the love of her life and can still hear his voice. I feel as if she wants to die too so she can see him again and she hears these voices telling her to do it so they can see each other again. These voices sound like the husbands voice and is trying to trick her. But the real husbands voice is telling her to not listen to the other voices and stay alive. Hence “Don’t listen to a word I say. The screams all sounds the same”
