This scene really speaks to me, in the sequel, Spoiler: Thurman is singing silent night at the end of the film and it didn't take till watching this scene again that I noticed its the same song. It blew my mind that I don't notice that at first.
Goes to show how much it must suck to be at point in your life where you're just gonna down a whole bottle of vodka and eat the rest of a kids advent calendar.
Thrumans childhood is way different from willies, except that thrumans is probably just as fucked up considering the kid never got a Christmas present in his life, whereas willies childhood was physical abuse from his dad, laying on him whenever he did or didn't have a bottle of alcohol in hand.
Willie and Thurman are alot alike, them both being that they're losers in their own way, Willie thanks to his alcoholism, he's more prone to act in altercation, whether it be violence or verbal abuse, he doesn't take no for an answer, thurman on the other hand can have a can thrown at his head, given a black eye and yet he turns the other cheek.
Yet at some point during these films, both these characters were able to redeem their characters in the end and it left a good taste in my mouth for both movies.
