Over 22 years ago I picked sport, as a never ending development, and it really saved my life countless times. Even when I was suicidal and severely depressed and I could not train at all, I promised myself to get back to it if I will ever get better. I eventually did, and used sport as a rope to drag myself out of hellhole I have been in, and it really worked. If you think you cant, start with literally 2 minutes every day, it helps A LOT! Combined with healthy food, music and nature can change persons life.
Thank you for your huge help in adhd subject dr. Marks. Almost 40 years I was unaware I have it, now everything makes sense. All the best!

Been living this way since a horrible breakup, abusive ex, chronic debilitating illness. Im on antidepressants but with so much betrayl and now abandonment and estrangement from family, I do ask why try? Yet I face homlessness living in a state of injustice, feeling invisible and completly not understood. Its like people think I chose this. I hate this. I had such a lust for life people were inspired by me and now they abandoned me. They really did. And Ilet them go I can fight to keep people with massive fatigue and illness. Its like. What the hell happened to this world, or is it really just me?

There is a documentary out about and I believe called, "happiness"
My biggest takeaway from that was how much flow contributes to happiness and how much lack of flow steals happiness. I've been having a very difficult time at work the last couple of weeks trying to solve difficult mechanical and software issues that's really brought me down. It's definitely due to lack of flow.

Whoever needs to hear it, just because you don’t see how things can get better or when, it doesn’t mean they won’t. Don’t give up before you find the way out. “How high does the sycamore grow?
If you cut it down, then you'll never know.”

I had struggled with apathy for a few years, especially after heartbreak and also from emotional blunting caused by an SSRI- would love to hear other tips on how to overcome it especially in relationships and at work!!

Feeling emotionally not there or unattached (apathy) are a real thing. I personally have this but I just can't figure out the specific reasons what cause this. But in general I think it's due to stress that overwhelmed your emotions. So you automatically only think about the stress.

Anhedonia? Depression? Ever since my mom passed away from suicide in 2019 I'm broken.

Great analysis of apathy, working through apathy.

I’ve always felt apathetic in general. And the emotional detachment has caused problems with some connections that I’m sure showed some kind of interest.

You think apathy, in the way it's described here, is likely a part of why autistic women can be misidentified as being manic and borderline? Thanks for your uploads by the way.

hm, I love this topic & the Flow Genome Project caught my interest but they are trying to sell a course for $600+ which turned me off. Diagnostic quizzes are fun but HEADS UP, you must enter your name & email to see the results.

Funny this vid came up. Was struggling with having a point for drawing which made me not do it. I use to be on it for months. I had clear goals and reasoning behind them.

But after awhile, I forgot my reasoning, and just had a goal. And no reinforcement behind it. So while there was interest, without reasoning related to security or problem solving It wasn't enough. When I realized this yesterday I instantly gained motivation

Sometimes, just letting everything _rot_ is a necessary experience to overcome perfectionism, pedantism, hypochondria, compulsive obsessions.

To embrace the fact of mortality as an integral part of life, rather than evading and surpressing it.
As the mind has a tendency to balance itself without external stimulation (deprivation experiments, traditional asceticism), it should not surprise that after 'the time was full' (biblical, bronze age parlour ) 'an angel came' and 'called upon' the forsaken soul.

That is the moment where the modernist 'flow' is to be discussed, an elevated state of meaningful motivation and insight, driving the twitching fingers of fools sure and steady to express, _accurately_ what they have seen.

The real problem is that we are alienated from our traditions, paying for mental health so that we can keep our jobs within a corrupted economy and polity.
'All is made anew' after collapse - be it personal, national or in a cataclysm - if one trusts in the long breath of a God, every failure is a step of maturization.

Apathy is not sadness/feeling depressed, but it's usually a component of it.
That is, only if the apathy is stable and persistent for a long period of time, and not something transient(as most people experience transient apathy).
If apathy is an issue of weeks or months period, it's probably a warning sign of depression.
There's no reason a non depressed person will not care about anything or have such low motivation for so long.
It might be depression.

So can someone tell me 1 difference between depression and apathy? It isn't the same but people can't feel the difference. I understand the small differences are making other treatments but in real life it goes like this --> If i go to the psychiatrist with apathy they would give me antidepressants. If your hormones are low( out of balance ) they would give you an antidepressant. If you have no self worth because of trauma they give you antidepressants
