Metalmark Moth mimicking its Jumping Spider Predator

Показать описание
With their raised wings and the eye-like pattern Metalmark Moths of the genus Brenthia in the family Choreutidae look like Jumping Spiders, Salticidae which prey on small insects, such as moths. Even their jerky leaps resemble that of a Jumping Spider. Apparently this gives them an advantage in the struggle for survival because Jumping spiders mistake them as fellows and not recognize them as prey. This is a rare example of predator mimicry.

What a spectacular find and specimen. I am always in awe of the intricacy of the relationships in the Web of Life. This is evolution at its best.

Imagine if you had to 'zombie walk' for the rest of your life. Its amazing how a species naturally mimics another for the entirety of its life. Always in character. How did they evolve that way??

Evolution just happened to produce this ... by chance.... unexpectedly.... independently... and it all ended so perfectly... seriously...
