Healing Our Hurts – Dr. Charles Stanley

Stepping barefoot on a nail = piercing pain.

Having that nail removed = piercing pain.

Would you ignore the nail to save yourself the pain of extraction? Not unless you want a gangrenous infection. The choice is obvious when it comes to our physical health. Yet most of us are guilty of burying emotional wounds, allowing them to fester into full-blown bitterness.

In this message, Dr. Stanley exhorts us to examine those tender places. Yes, it can be painful to do so, but it is ultimately worth it. Find courage to face your wounds and experience God’s healing touch.

I can totally understand this message. I was emotionally hurt by my parents my whole childhood. I grew up bitter, angry, and filled with rage. I turned away from God and society, fell into alcohol and drugs, and basically screwed up my whole life. Only now, at over 50 years old, have I begged the Lord for help and He has welcomed me home. Every day is a struggle but with Jesus' help, I'm very slowly recovering. Praise God for His mercy.

Don’t be discouraged because you’re still in the problem: things aren’t improving, doors are closing, people aren’t changing. Those lies will start whispering. “It’s never going to get better. You’ll never get well, never break the addiction, never accomplish that dream.” No, that problem didn’t show up alone. That problem came with a purpose, with a promotion, with a blessing. You keep honoring God and you’re going to come out of the problem into the promotion, out of the sickness into health, out of trouble into peace, out of struggle into freedom, out of lack into abundance. The enemy sent it for your harm, but God has already turned it to your advantage.

Thank you for this message I've suffered from sexual abuse under the age of 5 and and 42 years of verbal and physical and sexual abuse in my marriage I'm just know going through bad memories that I thought were forgiven and gone are now very active I'm my mind especially since my mother passed away and also coming off antidepressants and anxiety meds, please pray for me to forgive them because it's hard for me to go on with this horrific memory in Jesus Christ amen 🙏
