After working with both, I prefer Laravel.

1. Laravel gets you everything you need to start a business for free out of the box. And has a great ecosystem to handle common pain points with running a service - Forge, Shift, Vapor, etc. The only thing I get from Django oob is basic auth and admin (and self documenting APIs with DRF).

2. Laravel uses other technologies I like, namely Vue and Tailwind.

3. The Laravel framework never feels like it’s in the way. If I need to do something atypical, it’s easy to do. Django can be very difficult to customize if you don’t do things the Django way. And the Django way is hard for many to grok vs traditional MVC.

4. If I’m integrating with stuff like Wordpress and Xenforo, it’s nice to work in the same language and have the ability to share code.

The thing is, when I was looking for an internship a few months back it was really really hard to find internships based on Django with decent pay. Majorly companies were hiring backend interns who knows NodeJS.
I'm still confused though!!

Although Django is popular, we should understand that languages like php which are old has lot of applications already build on php and many experienced people spend time debugging and implementing new features in existing applications and this is a advantage when you don't have a lot of new projects coming, if you went to interviews and they expected different tech stack, then you should realize you went to wrong place, recruiter wants he wants, therfore when Django jobs show up take it. There is no other way, after 10 years many applications will exist on Django and will be great for implementing new features and surviving on job. In my last encounter they asked me to be ready to implement on any tech stack but php is what he wants right then, therfore learning old technologies is always beneficial, but if you want to stick to Django learn well and show up when recruiter is asking.
All the best.

Your video should have focussed only freshers. The video should have answered the big question, will I get a job after graduating? Rather you talked about experienced developers and your Newton School ad.
