Πασαλιμάνι, η καρδιά του αστικού Πειραιά
Το Πασαλιμάνι διακρίνεται από το πεταλοειδές του σχήμα με τις περιμετρικές ελαφρές προβλήτες των σκαφών αναψυχής και το συμπαγές μέτωπο των πολυκατοικιών. Σε δεύτερο επίπεδο διακρίνεται το στόμιο του παλιού ορμίσκου και στη δεξιά πλευρά της εικόνας η γέφυρα επάνω από τις βυθισμένες αρχαιότητες. Από τη γέφυρα έως τον νότιο εξωτερικό λιμενοβραχίονα στο βάθος, βρίσκεται η νέα επέκταση της Μαρίνας Ζέας.
Τρεις συνοικίες της πόλης, η Φρεαττύδα, το Κέντρο και η Καστέλλα, εκβάλουν στο Πασαλιμάνι .Το θαλάσσιο μέτωπο των οικοδομικών τετραγώνων άρχισε να διαμορφώνεται κατά τη δεκαετία του 1880 και ολοκληρώθηκε τα πρώτα χρόνια του 20ού αιώνα. Εδώ συγκεντρώθηκαν οι κατοικίες των Πειραιωτών αστών, των εμπόρων και των βιομηχάνων, οι οποίοι έκτισαν τα σπίτια τους με θέα στον Σαρωνικό κόλπο, μακριά από τον θόρυβο του λιμανιού και τους καπνούς των εργοστασίων. Το Πασαλιμάνι υπήρξε ένας από τους πολεμικούς ναυστάθμους της αρχαίας Αθηναϊκής Δημοκρατίας.
Pasalimani, the heart of urban Piraeus
The Pasalimani is distinguished by its horseshoe-shaped shape with the perimeter light piers of yachts and the solid front of the apartment buildings. On the second level is the mouth of the old cove and on the right side of the image the bridge above the sunken antiquities. From the bridge to the southern outer jetty in the background, is the new extension of Marina Zea.
Three districts of the city, Freattida, Kentro and Kastella, flow into Pasalimani. The sea front of the building blocks began to take shape in the 1880s and was completed in the first years of the 20th century. Here were gathered the houses of the Piraeus bourgeoisie, merchants and industrialists, who built their houses overlooking the Saronic Gulf, away from the noise of the port and the smoke of the factories. Pasalimani was one of the naval bases of the ancient Athenian Republic.
