Bill Self, Bruce Weber react to brawl between Kansas and Kansas State | College Basketball on ESPN

After a melee breaks out at the end of Kansas vs. Kansas State at Allen Fieldhouse, Jayhawks coach Bill Self calls the incident "embarrassing" while (8:53) Wildcats coach Bruce Weber says he's disappointed and hopes his players learned a valuable life lesson.

I’m not a fan of “unwritten rules”. So the kid stealing the ball at the end of the game, though classless and unnecessary, was legal. The KU guy rejecting the shot was just as legal. The KU player standing over the K-State player was guilty of taunting. That’s a technical foul. That’s where it should have ended. The K-State player coming off the bench and going after DeSousa is guilty of starting the brawl. He should be banned and expelled.

I liked Bill Self's answers during this press conference. I also like the fact that he talked one-way to the players. Wish I had heard the exact words he used.

For a conference that penalizes “horns down”, it’s logical to expect something big - like the entire team suspended for the season.

The players are pampered babies. Why should they be expected to behave responsibly? Nullify the seasons for both teams. Suspend the coaches. Consider criminal prosecutions of involved players.

Just realized these two coaches were back-to-back coaches of those fun Illinois teams in the early 2000s with Deron Williams, Dee Brown and Luther Head.
