i'm doing AoC in c++ this year. the thing with c++ is that you can't get "fancy" with regexes and other things as easily (cause you'll end up in another deep rabbit hole), so my implementations are as straight forward as they can get.
that also meant that i couldn't simply just replace (i think there's a std method for replace for a std::string but i couldn't be bothered to look it up lmao) so i didn't get into the problem with the overlapping numbers
