WHAT is EUSEW 2013?

We'd like to explain to you what the EU Sustainable Energy Week is. And we want to make it quick and simple.

The EU Sustainable Energy Week -- or EUSEW as we call it -- covers two areas. On one side you have the Awards, and on the other, you have Energy Days.

An Energy Day is a not for profit event that promotes energy efficiency or renewable energy. In 2013, Energy Days will take place between 22 and 30 June.

One Energy Day alone may not seem big. However, when replicated hundreds of times, by multiple organisations across Europe, together we achieve great things. Over 1000 Energy Days organised by 700 different organisations took place during EUSEW 2012. For this upcoming edition, we have the following objectives:

• Improving peoples' awareness and changing their behaviour.
• Spreading renewable energy and energy efficiency best practice examples.
• Boosting investment in clean technology solutions.

So, at this point, you're probably asking us to give you some good reasons to organise an Energy Day in your town or city... or region! Well, here they are:

1. You can be part of a European movement bringing change to the EU energy landscape.
2. You can enhance your organisation's international visibility
3. You can benefit from the European Commission's free communication support

The Sustainable Energy Europe Awards is the main reference prize in Europe for energy efficiency, renewable energies and clean transport. Now in its seventh edition, the Awards gather annually more than 250 innovative projects at the forefront of sustainable energy implementation in Europe.

Who can take part?

The Awards are designed to welcome major stakeholders from the corporate and public sectors -- such as SMEs, multi-national industry associations, academic institutions, local and regional administration or NGOs.

How can I participate?
Well, you would need to present concrete facts and figures explaining how your project will generate energy savings and/or increase the use of renewable energy sources regardless of its size.

In other words, Your project must make a significant and proven contribution to the EU 2020 objectives with regards to energy efficiency and renewable energy sources.

At this point, you must be asking yourself why your organisation should participate in the Awards? Here's just 4 of many good reasons:

It gives all your hard work the visibility it deserves.

You can demonstrate your commitment to a cleaner environment.

You will receive important recognition at European level.

Your project will help to inspire others.

The EU Sustainable Energy Week 2013 also hosts a policy conference in Brussels which brings together key players in the sector from all over Europe, as well as exciting events for the general public which will take place across the city.
