One more suggestion: my first Dremel was very small and lightweight making it very difficult to prevent bouncing around and shaking. So, I taped a weight to the back of my Dremel to help stay still. I tattooed for 20 years and I used this same technique with my rotary tattoo machines which were usually extremely light weight compared to my coil machines. Cool machines can be from brass which is quite heavy. I had already been tattooing for 10 years before I picked up a rotary machine for the first time so to go from something very heavy to something very light made it really difficult to hold my hand still that’s when I just started putting weight on my machines.

After, you can reapply a stencil to block off the surrounding areas. Then use #0-000 steel wool and just brush the engraved area. This will smooth out the etching so it doesn’t look so rough.

I am 63 years old and starting this, especially at my age, is VERY difficult and even though I am skilled at wood carving (chip carving with a sharp knife) and other woodworking, I don't know if I can accomplish this type of work or not, but I'm going to try more for knife making and/or woodworking, so thanks again!

Suggestion: for smaller objects I like to duct tape them onto a larger round object. Like large jar lid. Sometimes I’ll even put a nail through the top of the lid so I can pivot the lid as I work my way around turns.
