'Frankenstein' 1987 John Deere 318 Project - Start & Run After Starter Replacement (March 2019)

I'm finally getting around to uploading some old video clips. For this video, we dig into my archives from March of this year, when I was home on spring break.

My buddy John (Gofast_films) hooked me up with a cheap deal on a 1987 John Deere 318 with a 1200-hour Onan P218G engine, which he had worked on a few years ago. He sold the tractor to his friend Eric, who ran it until December 2018 and parked it when the starter went out. I bought the tractor cheap and tore it apart to replace the starter. John had swapped out the original oil pan and starter with the ones from an Onan B48G engine, and sent me another B series starter he had laying around. John and Jimmy came down to my house one night, and we replaced the starter and got the engine mounted back in the tractor. This video shows the first startup after repairing the starter. Cody (GARDEN TRACTOR GEEK) was looking for a 318 at the time, so I traded him this tractor for his 214 and my old 1968 110 square fender, both of which I then sold.

I'm really looking forward to getting that 318 I showed you recently. Once school starts up again I'll be picking that tractor up and seeing if the engine is fixable. If not, I have a spare Linamar LX790 20hp waiting for it! That 318 sure does have a quiet rear end!

Michael, I have a 1974 110 that runs and mows like 4 brand new ones!! I recently put a new starter on it. Right now it needs points and a coil. Do you want it? I live south of York.
