Now Nintendo is going to get more exposure. Youtubers are going to start playing more nintendo games and less cash grabs. People will be exposed to products with quality and forget about the scummy companys that focus on quantity. At least... that’s what im hoping for.

Well, finally Nintendo gave up on all of this nonsense. Nintendo have one of the best IP's on the industry, but they seriously sometimes have the worst business practices and don't know how to deal with them.

From the same company which does

- the so called “Nintendo Tax”, with barely any price drops on their full priced first party games for many years
- selling remasters and ports for AAA prices
- rarely price drops consoles even years after launch.
- stripped down Virtual Console, purchases not carried over to new systems via same account, meaning you need to repurchase the same VC games digitally with each new console they release without allowing for one universal account.
- locks save files on the console (break the console? then good luck recovering the save files and getting Nintendo Support to transfer them), and in September further locked save files behind the online service paywall, a service which does not work with every Switch game. The only ways to get save files from a Switch console without the online subscription are to contact Nintendo Support (who can and have refused save transfers to many people, and now will try to blame the user for not getting Nintendo Online) or to void warranty and extract the save files by hacking to a backup.
- YouTube content creation blocking from 2015 to the end of 2018, forcing YouTubers to fork over the majority of revenue for Nintendo games Nintendo related news videos with Nintendo via the Nintendo Creators Program. In other news, charging content creators for free advertising and exposure.
- Did not include a charger with their 3DS XL electronic device rendering it unusable after a few hours of losing battery life without a separate purchase on top, just so they could save a few bucks.
- Releases a “new” version of their 3DS line, but releases games that are only playable on the “new” 3DS and not the previous 3DS and 3DS XL (e.g Xenoblade Chronicles 3D).
- RAM Adapters and the Expansion Pak splitting their own userbase with titles that did not work on the standard console/handheld.
- Amiibo aka glorified ‘physical’ DLC, locking in-game content behind these plastic things with an NFC chip. Also locking legendary Pokemon behind the purchase of overpriced accessories (e.g Mew in Pokeball +, which gets permanently deleted and unable to restore from PokeBall Plus if you delete the save file (which Pokemon Lets Go save files are not supported for cloud save upload)) and game store visits.
- threatens lawsuits (cease and desist) on anyone who makes fan games based on their characters.
- destroyed ROM sites aka gaming history preservation sites
- selling plastic “retro” shells with cheap parts and a couple of ROMs for insane prices
- feeding scalpers with deliberate limited stock at launch manufacturing false hype, then releasing the rest of the stock once the hype dies down.
- vastly overpriced accessories
- locking challenging game modes behind a DLC paywall (e.g Zelda BotW), and in some cases not allowing purchase of a second DLC/expansion by itself without buying the first.
- No native voice chat or party service. Online voice chat for Switch only available by connecting with a Nintendo phone app.
- paying online for no dedicated servers
- if you do not sign in to the online service once per week your access to the NES games get blocked.
- Locks the purchase of extra DLC for games behind the Nintendo Online service.
- selling Switch controllers for $60 that are only capable of being used for the Nintendo Online service NES games and not other Switch games.

Probably got too many submissions and/or too little revenue. And none of the big youtubers bothered to cover nintendo games in the first place.
Last I heard youtube took 50%. Then Nintendo wanted 40% of the remainder.

Seeing as Nintendo is one of the few companies nowadays that finishes their games before releasing them, I say forgive and forget.

Wow, I'm genuinely surprised.
Maybe Nintendo is starting to actually understand the internet.
