I’m still getting to know my EAD-10 but I am exploring the possibilities with it. I am currently using it as part of my in-ear rig and for mic’ing my kit in small clubs. So far I am very pleased with what I am hearing from it and the ease of using it. Well done a Yamaha!

Every demo on YT is in a huge echoing studio .. most people are going to use this either live or in a small studio or home studio. In a smaller space the mic system on top of the bass drum has the drums lower in volume & the cymbals loud. Lighter weight cymbals placed further away from the mic helps.

show us what it sounds l;ike with two guitar amps and a bass amp playing next to the kit and see how it performs i can only see this as a bedroom system and nothing else

😂🥁 the satirical sense of humor in this vid… why would y’all use this comparison lol? so wrong, yet so right. Honestly considering this as a mic solution (especially for the socially shareable music landscape that we’re all in rn). I have some really good sounding mics and not sure it’ll have use in every scenario, but for the times when I’m looking to get straight to playing and not fiddling w/ engineering…. This looks / sounds like a vibe. I 1st saw @ZackGrooves & @ElEsteparioSiberiano shredding with it, which confirmed my suspicions.

What makes me suspicious of this vid is a) produced by manufacturer of the unit. b) all drum pieces sound equal in volume. How much tweaking of placement, settings, room etc was needed (not gonna spend 4 hours tweaking a live stage setup). And finally... how many effects, settings were used by the sound engineer at the board not at the module. Any comment Yamaha?

Is there anything stopping me from triggering the whole of my 4 piece kit so I can get the midi info out for the drums and have the onboard mics for the cymbals? Are there tom samples in the module? And are they tunable?

The snare ends up WAY too loud, the toms don't sound warm, and as is, not very good. Even in that demo, listen to the snare. I run mics through a Model 24 board. I keep messing with different settings, and get lucky on occasion, where the mics are prevalent. The app's click track doesn't work on 90% of the tunes. Cymbals are nearly invisible, especially if you use big toms. As is, fun for a few days, but too many issues. Why couldn't that separate the master volume controls? Poor design, poor sound. It can't be compared to a real mic set up.
